Sleep Number Bed -- Mold and Mildew

Some owners of the Sleep Number / Select Comfort bed have substantial problems with mold and have filed a lawsuit. According to our Sleep Number bed research based on well over 1,000 actual owner experiences, mold is somewhat of an issue. But for the vast majority of owners, it is not a problem, at least as far as they know.

While the bed can have mold issues, it is only fair to point out that the bed is also potentially healthier than most other mattress types because it can be cleaned thoroughly and fairly easily. In addition, dust mites cannot populate the inside of the bed because they can't penetrate the encasing.

  1. Hello. My name is Stephanie and I work for Select Comfort customer service. I thought I would give you some information about mold and the Sleep Number bed. Under the right circumstances, mold can occur in ANY upholstered product, including any kind of mattress. While it is possible for mold to grow in any mattress, the Sleep Number bed actually provides a distinct advantage over other mattresses because you can easily open it up and inspect it anytime—something you’re not able to do with other mattresses. If you have any further questions about mold I encourage you to call our customer service line at 1-800-472-7185. You can also read a blog post about this very topic by going to http://www.beds.com/blog/mold-and-the-sleep-number-bed. I hope you find this information helpful.
